Raku Necklace

Raku Necklace

This Raku Necklace is handmade and fired in the ancient Japanese raku technique in a white crackle glaze. Each Raku piece is completely unique and different, featuring beautiful crackles and metallic details.

The Raku process involves firing the pottery until the glaze reaches its melting point. The kiln is then shut off and each piece is pulled individually using raku tongs, and placed into  a metal can filled with combustibles and then sealed with a lid where a reduction will take place. The smoke and reduction leaves a metallic luster and the thermal shock creates the beautiful crackle effect.

This necklace was then assembled using natural leather with a slip knot that allows you to adjust the length of the necklace to hang at just the right height.

Hangs at approximately 12" long x 3" Wide
